Biblical Preaching: The Development and Delivery of Expository Messages by Haddon W. RobinsonI have mixed feelings on this book. Having just finished Preaching 601 I have mixed feelings on Dr. Robinsons class in general.
- Very practical
- Does not overspiritualize the process of preaching - brings in a lot of basic communication theory and applies it to preaching.
- Im unconvinced that a sermon can have only one basic idea and that it needs to be reduced to a slogan-like title.
- Im unconvinced that preaching without a manuscript (as we had to in class) is necessary or even helpful.
- Book and class often felt like an undergraduate public speaking class because of Robinsons de-emphasis on specific theological content.

Discover the Word with Haddon Robinson
In , Haddon Robinson and Alice Mathews joined Mart DeHaan and began creating radio programs that worked through Bible passages to find direction for daily living. About a month later, on February 18, Alice Mathews was first heard on the show. Your program is divinely orchestrated even on the days when you feel it may not. God bless you all. The team has had over recording sessions, which translates into many hours spent around the table in discussion! Though Haddon and Alice are retiring from the show after 23 years on Discover the Word, there will still be conversations around the table.
