What makes an e-bike an EAPC?
In Great Britain, a qualifying electrically assisted pedal cycle must have pedals capable of propelling it, a motor with a maximum continuous rated power of no more than 250 watts, and motor assistance that cannot propel the bike above 15.5mph. Riders must be at least 14.
A compliant EAPC does not need a driving licence, registration, vehicle tax or compulsory motor insurance. It can be ridden where pedal cycles are permitted, but not on pavements.
