Love is Kind: What Does the Bible Say About Kindness?

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things.

Does the Bible Promise Happiness?

Here are three of my favorite Bible verses that prove God wants us to be happy. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. This verse not only commands us to trust the Lord, but reminds us that finding delight in the Lord will also result in positive things coming your way! Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.

God wants us to be happy. But what does that look like? How do we find happiness? The only way to find happiness is through Him. He created us! God knows us better than we know ourselves.

I remember hearing the above-quoted upbeat song when I was a seven-year-old in New England. The gentle reggae drew me in, and the words seemed right enough. It was the first a cappella song to hit number one on the Billboard Hot charts, and it no doubt lent wind to a thousand collegiate a cappella groups. Humanity is hardwired to pursue happiness. There is no toddler training course on the subject. We just naturally, instinctively, pre-cognitively want to be happy. So we pursue happiness, just as we always have.

But how exactly does this “becoming happy in God” thing happen? The Bible answers this question directly. “I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in.

T here are many precious promises for Christians but does God promise us happiness in this life? What does the Bible say is in store for believers in this world? In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! Peace and joy are not the same thing as happiness because happiness is based upon happenings and happenings are temporary but the peace of God endures forever, even in hardships in this life. That is a lie from the Devil. Jesus said it would not be a happy experience or easy but difficult and narrow.

One of the most important, yet most hopeless topics in our lives is happiness. What is happiness? How do we find happiness? And most importantly how do we make it last. Happiness is a state of well-being and contentment we reach when we feel satisfied. The so-called pursuit of happiness is a quest that takes most people the majority of their lives but never really seems conquered. Real happiness, however, is found in Christ and in his everlasting love.

We all want to be happy. We work at it. We strive for it. We know it when we have it, and we know when we are not happy. It seems so elusive sometimes. We often seek it in the wrong places.

  1. Affluence and personal peace at any price as the controlling factors of life are as ugly as anything could be.
