W.B. Yeats Quotes (Author of The Collected Poems of W.B. Yeats)
from Blue Dark
Light, my light, the world-filling light, the eye-kissing light, heart-sweetening light! Ah, the light dances, my darling, at the center of my life; the light strikes, my darling, the chords of my love; the sky opens, the wind runs wild, laughter passes over the earth. The butterflies spread their sails on the sea of light. Lilies and jasmines surge up on the crest of the waves of light. The light is shattered into gold on every cloud, my darling, and it scatters gems in profusion. Mirth spreads from leaf to leaf, my darling, and gladness without measure. Slowly, silently, now the moon Walks the night in her silver shoon; This way, and that, she peers, and sees Silver fruit upon silver trees; One by one the casements catch Her beams beneath the silvery thatch; Couched in his kennel, like a log, With paws of silver sleeps the dog; From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep Of doves in silver feathered sleep A harvest mouse goes scampering by, With silver claws, and silver eye; And moveless fish in the water gleam, By silver reeds in a silver stream.

From childhood until now there has been an undeniable, unavoidable, awareness that I am not alone; never ever! Repeatedly throughout my prayer and meditation life an all pervasive light appears in me and all around me moving out unquestionably into eternity; beyond the moon, stars, sun, and all of the planets in the universe, on and on, way beyond time and space. And yet this light is so personal. It does not seem like the light coming to the earth from the sun.
